A Little Bit About the RVCC:
Founded in 1987 by Kimberly Ruse Davidson, the Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir has grown to be a highly respected arts organization in the Roanoke Valley, in the state of Virginia, and beyond. The choir includes 200 children from 65 different schools throughout the Roanoke Valley and surrounding communities. The choristers, ages 7-18, are divided into three Training Choirs and a Concert Choir. The RVCC provides an artistic and in depth study of the voice in a choral setting for every child. We strive to teach young musicians of the Roanoke Valley how to work together and pursue excellence - in singing, in music, and in everyday life. Our mission as a choir to provide the best choral experience for our choristers and spread the joy of music to everyone we can!

Quotes from RVCC Members and Past Alumni Singers:
“My ten years in RCCC taught me so much more than music! Teamwork, perseverance, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence – all of these were developed through my choir experiences. RVCC is a big commitment that takes hard work, but the rewards are far greater. Mrs. Davidson taught us to ‘reach for the top’, and made sure we had world-class opportunities to shine. Carnegie Hall and Canterbury Cathedral are two that stand out. They were even topics of college admissions and scholarship essays my senior year – and the feedback was incredibly positive! I was fortunate to receive a full college scholarship, and I know that my choir experiences helped me ‘stand out in the crowd’ with these applications. Thank you, Ms. Davidson, and all who continue to help make RVCC available to students in the Roanoke Valley.” – Katherine Quiroz – Christopher Newport University Student
“I have been in the RVCC since I was seven, and I have loved every minute of it! Mrs. D. has taught me so much throughout the years and I truly would not be the person I am today without her. Choir has been such a fun experience that has helped me grow in music and as a person. I look forward to making countless more great memories and great music in the years ahead. Thank you Mrs. D!!!!” - Sophie, current 2022 RVCC Chorister, in choir for 7 years
“The Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir was one of the best experiences of my life and I would not be the same without it. It was one of the most challenging but fulfilling things in my life. It was a foundation for friendships and the whole experience made you feel like you were part of a family not just a regular group of people that just happened to sing together, no this was a different experience. A one of a kind experience. I, honestly, miss every part of it! I may have only been in choir for 10 years but it will forever be apart of me and who I am today. I’m thankful for the once in a lifetime experiences, the laughter, the family, the singing, the friendships, you name it, I’m grateful for it!” - Rachel, 2013 RVCC Alumni in choir for 10 years
